Materials & Certification

Every claim we make is on paper.

Most play mats ask you to trust a word. We would rather show you the file. Fourteen third-party reports, every number printed — and an equally honest account of what we do not claim.

Chapter I · The number

The figure most brands
will not publish.

EN 1177 is the impact-attenuation method used for playground surfacing. We put our mats through it at SGS. This is exactly what came back — and exactly what it does not mean.

Measured critical fall height · EN 1177 impact-attenuation method
1.5m
Tested by SGS / Hardline · Report HTY22400013 · issued 29 June 2026
The boundary — please read this part

A PopsyKosy mat is a cushioned floor surface, not a certified safety device. A measured critical fall height describes how the surface behaved in a laboratory test. It is not a promise that your child will not be hurt, it does not make this a measured-cushioning product, and it never replaces supervision. We publish the number because it is real. We publish this paragraph because it is also real.

Chapter II · Material

One material,
all the way through.

A 100% virgin EVA foam core, with a 100% EVA printed film surface. Both layers are EVA. No PE, no PEVA, no XPE, no IXPE, no recycled filler. The film carries the pattern and the wipe-clean finish — and it is EVA too. Film and core are bonded by thermal fusion rather than chemical adhesive, so there is no glue line in the construction. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I — the tier intended for articles in contact with babies — is certified on the complete finished mat, film included.

01

EVA Printed Film

The surface your child touches first. Pure EVA, with the ink sealed beneath a transparent topcoat rather than printed on top.

02

Textured Surface

A grounded floor feel for supervised tummy time, crawling and ordinary family use.

03

EVA Foam Core

Closed-cell virgin EVA. The 1″ Boulder uses a triple-density build; the 0.5″ Signature a single-density core.

04

Thermal Fusion

Film and core bonded under heat and pressure. No adhesive layer in the construction.

05

Interlocking Tiles

24-inch tiles, 0.5″ and 1″. Fewer, larger tiles across the same floor — but tiles, and we say so.

Chapter III · The record

Fourteen documents.

Every number printed.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

TESTEX AG · Swiss Textile Testing Institute

Product Class I — the strictest tier, for articles in contact with babies. Certified on the complete finished mat, not just the raw foam.

USP Class VI

USP protocol

Materials biocompatibility test protocol applied to the EVA foam. A materials result — not a medical clearance, and we never present it as one.

Chapter V · How to compare

Questions worth asking
any brand — including us.

We will not tell you what is inside someone else's mat. We do not have their reports, and neither does anyone who claims otherwise. What we can give you is the list of questions that separate a documented product from a marketed one.

Which material family, exactly — and virgin or recycled?
PopsyKosy: 100% virgin EVA core and 100% EVA film. No PE, PEVA, XPE, IXPE or recycled filler.
Is the certificate on the finished product, or only on the raw foam?
PopsyKosy: OEKO-TEX Class I is certified on the complete finished mat, film included.
What is the certificate number, and can I verify it myself?
PopsyKosy: BJ028 281793 — verifiable at OEKO-TEX without asking us. Every other report number is printed above.
Is the film glued on, or fused?
PopsyKosy: thermally fused. No adhesive layer in the construction.
Has impact attenuation actually been measured?
PopsyKosy: yes — EN 1177 method, SGS, 1.5 m critical fall height, with the boundary stated in Chapter I.
What does the brand refuse to claim?
PopsyKosy: the next chapter is the whole answer.
Chapter VI · Equally important

What we
don't claim.

Any brand can list certificates. Fewer will tell you where the certificates stop. This chapter exists so you never have to wonder.

Not clinical-device. Not pharmaceutical-grade. Not regulatory-clearance-approved.USP Class VI is a materials test protocol. It is not a medical clearance, and a play mat is not a consumer floor surface.
Not antiviral. Not antimicrobial. We have not tested for, and do not claim, any effect on viruses or bacteria.
Not a measured-cushioning or comfort-focused cushioning device. We publish our EN 1177 critical fall height because it is a real measurement. It is not a safety guarantee, and it never replaces supervision.
Not a sleep surface.Play mats are for supervised, awake floor time. For sleep, follow safe-sleep guidance and use a crib.
Not one seamless piece. It is a system of 24-inch interlocking tiles. Fewer, larger tiles than most — but tiles.
Not compostable, and not landfill-safe.ASTM D5511 is a specific biodegradation test method. We report it within its scope and no further.
No numbers about anyone else's product. We will not tell you what percentage of EVA a competitor uses, or how long their mat off-gasses. We do not have their test reports. Neither does anyone else making those claims.
No result stretched past its report.A sample test is not a whole-product certification. Where a result belongs to one sample and one method, we say so on the card.
Chapter VII · Verify us

Don't take our word.
Take the certificate number.
