Keep Separate Floor-Zone Records in a Pet-and-Baby Household
Give each planned household floor area its own inventory entry and cleaning status. In a home with pets and a baby, a location-based record makes it clear which configuration belongs to which area and which reset steps have been completed. The record covers location, configuration and cleaning status for separate areas.
Name locations before combining the inventory
Use distinct location names for the areas you are planning. For example, “living-room window side” and “living-room bookcase side” identify two areas without making a claim about who should use them.
Write a separate entry for each location. If two entries use the same product option, keep both entries visible: a matching configuration is not a shared cleaning status.
Record the option for each separate zone
The current Build Your Floor page labels “0.5-inch Everyday” and “1-inch Extra Cushion” thickness choices and shows 12-, 24- and 30-tile configurations. Record the exact thickness label and count beside the location name.
Keep a combined household total as a summary below the individual entries. If one entry changes, revise that entry first and then the total. This preserves the connection between the quantity and the named floor area.
Use one reset sequence with separate completion rows
The care guide directs hand cleaning with mild soap, water and a soft cloth, followed by soap-residue removal and full drying of the tiles and underlying floor before reassembly.
Use the same sequence for each location, with a separate row or note for each area. The procedure can be shared while completion remains specific to the area cleaned.
- Location and date.
- Hand-cleaning step completed.
- Soap residue removed.
- Tiles fully dry.
- Underlying floor fully dry before reassembly.
Leave a precise handover note
If another household member continues the reset, name the area and the unfinished step. An example is: “Window-side area: residue removed; drying still to be checked.” That gives the next person a specific record to update.
A single note saying “the mats are done” can erase the distinction between two areas. Keep the location name on the note through to the final drying check.
Keep configuration and reset changes separate
A new tile-count choice changes the inventory entry. A completed cleaning step changes the reset log. Date each kind of update so the household record shows both the current configuration and the latest documented reset for that area.
