Design story
The Firework pattern
Firework is our most kinetic pattern — designed to convey movement and energy in a static visual form. The motif draws from mid-century textile traditions (the radial-burst geometry common in 1960s scandinavian rugs), abstracted into a flat play-mat-appropriate form. The pattern was developed for households that wanted visual energy in a play space without resorting to primary colors or cartoon graphics.
The two Firework colorways are Lavender Grey (a desaturated muted purple-gray) and Champagne Yellow (a warm muted gold-ochre). Both colorways are deliberately atypical for the playmat category, built for design-conscious parents who want palette options beyond the standard pink/blue/sage range. Both colorways use pigment-in-polymer rather than a surface coating and are supported by current product-specific testing records where covered by current product records.
Who this is for
Best fit: Households that want a play mat with deliberate visual energy and a non-standard color palette. Firework's two colorways (Lavender Grey, Champagne Yellow) are intentionally atypical for the playmat category. Buyers are usually 2nd-child households who already own a more-neutral first mat and want visual variety, or design-conscious singletons who specifically want a mid-century-modern aesthetic anchor in their living space.
Less ideal fit: Households with neutral-palette interiors where Champagne Yellow or Lavender Grey would clash (consider Boulder, Tranquil Flower, or Boho instead). Also less suitable for households that want a "disappearing" floor surface — Firework is deliberately a statement pattern. If you're choosing for resale-value-preserving neutral, consider Boulder in Glacier Grey.
