Using a Floor Mat Under a Treadmill

A mat under a treadmill does two real jobs — it protects the floor from dents and sweat, and it dampens the vibration and noise that travels into the room below. But there is an honest caveat: a treadmill is heavy and needs a stable base, so the goal is a firm protective layer, not a soft cushion that lets the machine rock.
