PopsyKosy Certifications — Full Documentation

Every PopsyKosy mat is certified to the strictest published safety + chemistry standards in the playmat category. This page consolidates the full certification stack with verifiable references.

USP Class VI — Surgical-Implant Biocompatibility

USP Class VI is the United States Pharmacopeia's highest plastic biocompatibility tier — the standard required for materials in surgical implants, IV bags, and pharmaceutical packaging. The six-stage testing battery covers acute systemic, intracutaneous, intramuscular, mouse, rabbit, and chronic biocompatibility assays. Testing cost per polymer formulation: $40-80K. Timeline: 18 months. PopsyKosy's EVA polymer passes USP Class VI; most consumer-grade foam mats are not tested at this tier.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I — Infant Skin-Contact Textile Tier

The strictest tier in OEKO-TEX's four-class system, Class I is intended for items in direct skin contact with infants under age 3 (clothing, swaddle blankets, pacifiers). The test battery covers 250+ specific substances: phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP), formaldehyde, VOCs, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium VI, arsenic), allergenic azo dyes, pH value, organotin compounds, pesticide residues, and PAHs. Verification: certificate database at oeko-tex.com.

CPSIA — US Federal Children's Product Safety

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act mandates third-party testing of children's products against US federal safety thresholds for lead, phthalates, and physical hazards. CPSIA compliance is the US legal minimum; PopsyKosy holds CPSIA certification with full COA documentation.

CE — European Conformity

CE marking confirms compliance with EU health, safety, and environmental requirements. Required for sale in the European Economic Area. PopsyKosy is CE marked for the European import path.

Prop 65 — California Chemical Disclosure

California Proposition 65 requires warning labels for products containing chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm. PopsyKosy is Prop 65 compliant with no required warnings.

ASTM F1292 — Fall-Protection Impact-Attenuation

The US federal standard for surfacing under children's play and exercise equipment. Tests peak deceleration (G-force) and head injury criterion (HIC) under standardized falling-head impact. PopsyKosy meets ASTM F1292 at both 0.5″ (12mm) and 1″ (25mm) thickness. The 1″ Boulder line covers falls from up to 36 inches — typical toddler-tumble and senior-balance fall heights.

Manufacturing Audit + Supply-Chain Transparency

PopsyKosy is designed in Los Angeles and precision-manufactured in Taichung, Taiwan. The Taichung facility is audited quarterly with third-party verification on raw-material sourcing, dye chemistry, and finished-product testing. Why we chose Taiwan over China covers the supply-chain reasoning in detail.

Verifiable third-party documents

Full COA (certificates of analysis) and certification documents are available on request via hello@popsykosy.com for enterprise buyers, journalists, and curious consumers. We publish the underlying lab documents in full rather than summary excerpts.

What we do NOT claim

  • FDA cleared — No. FDA clearance applies to medical devices in regulated use. PopsyKosy is a consumer product made from polymer chemistry that meets USP Class VI biocompatibility, but the mat itself is not a medical device.
  • GREENGUARD Gold — Not formally certified. We chose the stricter OEKO-TEX Class I instead. GREENGUARD Gold focuses on indoor air emissions; OEKO-TEX Class I covers skin-contact chemistry, which matters more for a play mat.
  • USDA BioPreferred — Not applicable. PopsyKosy is synthetic polymer chemistry (USP Class VI EVA), not bio-based.
  • Cradle to Cradle — Not formally certified at this scale. Our Heritage Trade-In program is our closest analog to circular-economy practice.

How to verify any claim
