EVA foam safety

Not all EVA foam is created equal. The FDA recognises EVA as a food-contact safe polymer in its higher purity grades, and the U.S. Pharmacopeia approves USP Class VI–tested EVA at the USP Class VI tier for surgical-implant applications. The safety question is therefore not "is EVA safe?" but "which grade of EVA, with which additives, certified by whom?"
