ASTM F1292

ASTM F1292 specifies the maximum acceleration (Gmax) and Head Injury Criterion (HIC) values that a surface must meet at a given drop height to be classified as fall-protective. While playgrounds use it for swing-set rubber tile, the same physics governs indoor play surfaces.

A 12 mm (0.5″) or 25 mm (1″) depending on tier PopsyKosy mat clears the ASTM F1292 threshold for a critical fall height of approximately 30 inches — the bar appropriate for crawling, cruising, and early-walking children.

Why this term matters at PopsyKosy

This safety-adjacent terminology is part of the foundation we built PopsyKosy on. Every PopsyKosy mat is engineered to USP Class VI biocompatibility (the testing tier used for medical-device components polymer chemistry) plus OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certification (the strictest textile-chemistry tier, originally written for infant skin contact). Each pattern is single-density-molded tile EVA (no tile seams to peel, no foam delamination, no adhesive layers to off-gas).
